ParkFlow - Parking Management System
A full-stack parking management application with a separate frontend and backend, designed for deployment across local and cloud environments.
Project Overview
ParkFlow is a full-stack parking management application built with a separate frontend and backend architecture.
The project is organized so both servers can be started together during local development, while also supporting deployment as a single repository or as independently deployed frontend and backend services. The application includes environment-based configuration to support different deployment environments.

Technical Challenges
One of the main focuses of the project was organizing the application into independent frontend and backend services while still allowing them to work together seamlessly during development and deployment.
The repository provides a shared local development workflow that starts both servers together, with the backend running on port 5000 and the frontend on port 5173. The frontend can also be configured to communicate with a separately deployed backend through the VITE_API_BASE_URL environment variable.
Deployment was another consideration. The project includes Vercel configuration for hosting the frontend and backend from the same repository, including API rewrites between the public /api/* routes and the backend service. Environment variables are used for backend configuration such as JWT secrets, administrator email settings, email credentials, and CORS configuration.
The backend currently uses in-memory data storage, which keeps the application simple during development but means data is reset whenever the backend process or serverless instance restarts.

Key Highlights
The project demonstrates several full-stack development concepts:
- Separate frontend and backend application structure
- One-command local startup for both services
- Environment-based frontend and backend configuration
- REST API communication between frontend and backend
- JWT-related backend security configuration
- CORS configuration for frontend/backend communication
- Vercel deployment using a single repository
- Support for independent frontend and backend deployment
- API rewrites through Vercel configuration
- In-memory backend data management
- Responsive full-stack application architecture
ParkFlowA full-stack parking application exploring frontend-backend separation, API integration, deployment configuration, and practical application architecture.

ParkFlow is structured to support both local development and cloud deployment, with separate frontend and backend services that can communicate through configurable API endpoints.
